The Farm Credit System is the largest single lender to American
agriculture with billions of dollars in loans outstanding to its cooperative
member-owners. Farm Credit Services of Western Arkansas currently serves more
than 4,300 customers, with loans totaling more than $730 million to farmers and
agri-businesses in the 41 western counties of Arkansas. Corporate offices are in
Russellville, Arkansas.
As a Farm Credit borrower you become a member of a cooperative - that is, a
business owned and controlled by the people using its services. Your Farm Credit
association is a credit cooperative. It extends loans and offers
financially-related services to its members. When you obtain a Farm Credit loan,
you become a member of your local Farm Credit cooperative, also called an
Agricultural Credit Association (ACA).
You may recognize the names PCA and
Federal Land Bank, these are names that were used early on in the history of
Farm Credit Services.
